The Actimat containing an open-ended zip, velcro, buttons, studs, a bottle, sliders, shoe lace, buckle, D ring and beads in tubular webbing can be used by a broad range of individuals or as a small group activity. Use at Home, in Kindergartens, Special Schools and Aged Care Facilities as part of a developmental or therapeutic program encouraging manipulative skills, memory, motor skills and cognitive function. The Pinnymat is a specifically designed apron for those living with Dementia to distract from repetitive actions, undressing etc. The apron contains everyday items (a pocket with zip to place personal items to be discovered, velcro, buttons, studs, a bottle, sliders, shoe lace, buckle, D ring and beads in tubular webbing) to encourage manipulative skills, memory, motor skills and cognitive function. The neck strap has a velcro opening and there is also a strap at the waist.

This Carer led activity is designed to direct the focus of the user on specific stimuli (gender specific items included). The panel secured by velcro is opened one section at a time with the used section being folded underneath. The items placed in the panel prior to use and components when discovered initiate memory and conversation. Contents and components stimulate olfactory (smell), auditory (sound) and tactile (touch) senses. The Discovery Panel is also used as an assessment tool for those who are visual learners.
